Wholesale B2B upstart makes their e-commerce website the center of their operations to streamline ordering and fulfillment while keeping their overhead under control.

A family-owned start-up, Ruff Ruff Poop Bags wanted to bring a new experience to wholesale purchasing of dog waste bags. And it was all to be based around their website.

The website as the hub

For the owners of Ruff Ruff there was never a doubt that in order for their business to hit the ground running, they needed a website that would allow them to streamline their operations so they could focus on acquiring wholesale accounts and fulfilling orders.

Because the sales model was to start by focusing on selling wholesale, we needed to develop a sort of members-only online store that had the following requirements:

  • Product catalog needed to be visible to the public
  • Product pricing and purchasing only available to registered members
  • Registration form with custom fields
  • Ability to manually approve or disapprove user registration
  • Make various shipping options available: standard, freight, flat rate, and will call
  • Have multiple payment methods available: credit card, NET 30 invoicing
  • Allow admins to place sample orders and maintain inventory

As is the case with any new business, budgets were tight so there was little room for error in getting the right functionality without unnecessary bloat.

Growth leads to changes

As a business evolves, so too should its website. And the case of Ruff Ruff was no different.

With sales increasing and customers placing more and more repeat orders, the next evolution of this wholesale e-commerce web store was to implement recurring subscriptions.

By making recurring subscriptions available to customers, our objective was to further streamline the ordering process for established customers by:

  • Giving customers one less thing to worry about – customers could now have their order on automatic
  • The business owners could better forecast month-to-month revenue
